Milk thistle contains the natural substance silymarin, which is a mixture of glycosides (silybin, silidianin, silichrystine), which helps the liver to perform its detoxification function, including by increasing the level of antioxidant protection. Silymari is a substance that is not found anywhere else. Zero toxicity and good tolerability of silymarin are noted in all publications — in individual clinical trials, in review papers, and in systematic reviews (meta-analyses).
The composition of milk thistle is rich in vitamins K, E, A, D, group B, contains manganese, selenium, magnesium, zinc, iodine, iron, potassium, boron, chromium, aluminum, flavonoids, polyunsaturated acids, chlorophyll, proteins, organic acids, silymarin, carbohydrates.
